Ok, so, I didn’t necessarily follow the brief to the letter on this one. Namely, facial expression. But does that really count as facial expression? Anyways, I think I’ve included the basic principles that were outlined in the brief, like anticipation and body language, at least with the little cubey. Also, I’m really happy with how this came out, so even if this one doesn’t completely fit the assignment I’ve still learned something out of it. so there!

ooh I just stumbled on this again. This was actually the cover of an album by a band called Reuben (which I bought pretty much cos Ashley Wood is one of my favourite artists ever (turns out the album was a bit pants))
Anyways yeah, Ashley Wood did the art for the metal gear solid comics. His stuff is really expressive and dramatic, lots of big brush strokes and heavy contrast. big influence on me and my work.

Wow, these are pretty spectacular. I did a similar thing for my GCSE art project on perspex, but it didnt come out anywhere near as accomplished as these. probably cos i only used 4 layers…
These are all really cool. I’m really into retro, olde styles lately. Gonna try and incorporate that in my work some more.
I really like the compositing in this. The lighting and textures on this strange little character make him seem very solid and tactile, making it look like he’s really there, even if he is a little green alien space dog

I don;t wanna be one of those people who think everything was better ‘back in the old days’ but look at this van! I love those wheel hubs, and the fact it has 6 wheels! This sort of art deco vehicle design always reminds me Bruce Timm’s batman series, which i love. most of the vehicles were quite similar to this.

I noticed this the other day on a blog i read called cartoon brew but willed myself not to watch it. I hate the way trailers nowadays give away every plot twist of the movie, which, annoyingly this one does a bit. but yeah i couldn’t resist watching it and now im more excited about this film then ever.
Apparently disney wrote a Toy Story 3 a few years ago, without pixar and even had Tim Allen signed up for it. I think the story was buzz light year being sent to japan to get repaired and woody and the gang decide to go save him. blah. thats practically the same story as 2 but with the characters switched. anyways this ones looks much much better so, good.
